What are long body Push Button Switches?

RJS1N1LB is our series of long-body Push Button Switches. These switches have a longer body than our standard switch range.

Our RJS1N1LB series are IP67 rated, 12mm metal push button switches which are available in high head and flat head. Select from momentary and latching functions. Available with Dot LED illumination and Ring LED illumination.

What is a Push Button Switch?

Push button switches are electro-mechanical components designed to be pressed or pushed down to activate an operation. Push buttons come in all shapes and sizes, depending on the function and design of a device. Explore our range of Metal and Plastic push-button switches.

Commonly, metal push button switches are referred to as anti-vandal switches as they are hardwearing and durable. Anti-vandal switches are used for a variety of devices we use every day, such as door entry systems and drink dispensing machines.

Panel Mount Push Button Switches?

Panel mount is defined as components that are inserted into a cut-out panel. We provide a vast selection of panel mount components including metal push button switches, plastic push button switches, navigation switches, rocker switches, toggle switches, footswitches, industrial controls, keylock and selector switches, LED indicators, and panel mount buzzers.

Momentary or Latching Function?

Select from a momentary push button switch function or a latching (alternative) pushbutton function.

Momentary only works when there is a force pressing the button, once this force is removed the switch is no longer engaged whereas a Latching switch maintains the state once pressed until the push button is pressed again to release the switch.

LED Illumination Options?

RJS supplies both non-illuminated and illuminated push switches. Choosing what type will depend on the function and design of your product. There is a wide range of LED illumination options including single, bi-colour, dual colour or RGB LED illumination. How the illumination is displayed also varies. Variations include.

  • Custom text*/custom symbol illumination*
  • Ring illumination
  • Dot illumination
  • Full illumination

Push to Make or Push to Break Switch?

A ‘push to make’ or ‘Normally Open’ (NO) switch is when an electrical flow is activated in a circuit when the button is pressed. And when the button is released the circuit is then broken and the electrical flow is stopped. This is the most common switch type.
Whereas a ‘Push to Break switch’ or ‘Normally Closed’ (NC) works in the opposite way, once pressed it stops an existing electrical flow through the circuit.

Poles and Throws
SPST (Single-pole, single-throw) switch has only got one output and one input.

SPDT (Single-pole, double-throw) switches have three terminals, one common pin and two pins that contend for connection to the common. Most suited to devices selecting between two power sources.

DPDT (Double-pole, double-throw) switches are essentially two SPDT switches that control two separate circuits and are switched together by one single actuator.
