Who are ETher NDE?
ETher NDE is a dedicated designer and manufacturer of Eddy Current Testing (ECT) non-destructive NDT equipment and probes, based in St Albans, UK. With over 150 years experience collectively in non-destructive testing, the team at ETherNDE are very knowledgeable about anything relating to Eddy Currents, no matter how challenging or advanced the application is.
Their products are utilised by many world-class companies and organisations, and have delivered thousands of NDT instruments across the world. Alongside this, the ETher NDE in-house R&D team have worked on a variety of research-funded programmes, developing solutions to unique inspection challenges.
Eddy Current Flaw Detectors
The latest model in its series, the WeldCheck 3 is a dual-frequency eddy current flaw detector with conductivity, which allows it to be used for dual and single or dual frequency applications. Examples of tasks include; weld inspection, surface defect detection, and low frequency inspection of non-ferrous material.
Improvements have been made on previous models to enhance ruggedness, with a toughened screen, improved connector access & performance, and an encoder wheel. Its adaptability and hard-wearing design makes it ideal for a wide range of working environments, even in the harshest conditions.

Their AeroCheck series has also been improved, with the AeroCheck 3 Dual Frequency Flaw Detector, which features rotary inspection C-Scan capabilities as standard, plus a variety of advanced features.
With similar enhancements as the WeldCheck 3, the AeroCheck 3 also offers the option of a standard keypad model for navigation, or a thumbwheel for fast single-handed software navigation, phase and gain adjustment during inspection. Plus, it has a frequency range of 10Hz to 20MHz, meaning it can be utilised in a diverse range of applications.

ETher NDE and RJS Electronics
RJS Electronics have been working with ETherNDE for the past 3 years. They originally asked us to help them source a suitable push button thumbwheel for their eddy current flaw detectors, and we now supply them with our SF39EB encoder switch.
We spoke to Chief Mechanical Engineer and Applications Manager, Ian Gough and asked him how they found it working with RJS:
“Great, we needed a slightly custom version of their standard product, which they helped with.”
SF39EB
The SF39EB is part of our range of navigation switches. It features a 12 pulse rotary encoder and a central push button switch with a momentary function, as well as single colour LED illumination.
This switch can also be customised with a variety of knob/housing styles and markings on the cap. For example, ETher NDE chose to have a black housing & cap, with white LED illumination and no custom markings (i.e. a plain black button).
